Baden in Winter #19, The Abandoned Gingerbread House
Update: Demolished by July of 2019. This guy sits all by itself, in the broad swath of land on the north side of Bittner Street.
Baden in Winter #18, Switzer Avenue #2

Baden in Winter #17, Switzer Avenue #1
I was very saddened to see the state of the houses facing the railroad tracks along Switzer Avenue. They are mostly vacant, and in a severe state of dilapidation.
Baden in Winter #16, The House by the Tracks
Update: Demolished by July of 2019. This may have been an African American school, but I’m working on confirming this. This cool house sits right at the southern tip of Switzer Avenue. Its longitudinal side facing the street and railroad tracks lends me to believe it is one of the oldest buildings in Baden.
Baden in Winter #15, North Broadway and Christian Avenue

Baden in Winter #14, The Old Tavern
Update: The building’s condition had badly deteriorated due to water infiltration caused by failing gutters on the west and east sides by October of 2021. The first time I came up to Baden to photograph was in 2010, and this bar below was still open. It is unique as it uses concrete block. Unfortunately, the…
Baden in Winter #13, The Viaduct
Baden, more than any other neighborhood, probably has the most obviously defined entrance to it. When you’ve passed under the viaduct, you know you’re in Baden.
Baden in Winter #12, The House on Antelope Street
Update: This house was gutted by fire sometime between February and November of 2018. This house sits abandoned off in the weeds, right on top of the railroad tracks.
