We were in the area, so we stopped to look at the memorial at Jefferson and Hebert. We also saw this interesting office building, as well as this collapsed building below on the other side of Parnell. The building is right next to Ernie’s Market.

St. Augustine, Late August 2016
The graffiti that had marred the front facade of St. Augustine’s in the aftermath of the apprehension of a drug dealer/violent felon/tagger has already been removed. Which strikes me as very curious, as there’s lots of graffiti in this city, and it seems random for this to be removed. The volunteer trees are getting to…
Jefferson and Hebert, July 2016
Not much has changed, since April of this year. The weeds have gotten taller.
Disgraceful Vandalism at St. Augustine’s

A Birthday and a Death
A friend had taken me out to dinner for my birthday in the Central West End on July 10th, and we were driving back to South City. It was already dark, as we had eaten late because I was giving a lecture at the Art Museum. As is common for me, I do not take…
Lemp Impostor Exposed

Hebert and Jefferson, in the Snow
Update: The buildings were demolished around the beginning of 2020. I return to this intersection often because it affords good views of St. Augustine a block away, but I still find the condition and life of the residential buildings on the other corners interesting to watch over the years. Just a couple of weeks ago,…
Hebert Street around Jefferson Avenue, In the Shadow of St. Augustine’s
Update: The building above was demolished around January of 2020. New animals come and go at this light post. Below, the houses that once fed the pews of St. Augustine’s begin to fall, one by one.
