Update: The house was destroyed sometime in the first half of 2019.
It’s been a while since I’d photographed the house on Pleasantview Road, and I usually approached it from the south, and I was very surprised to see that there had been some dramatic changes.
The back wing had been boarded up with new plywood, and storm windows had been installed in each of the windows in the front portion of the house.
An off-the-shelf door had been installed in the front.
Clearly someone is very invested in saving this old house, which has been in a state of abandonment, and apparently even saved from a fire, for at least forty years.
That roof looks like it has to leak, so why bother with doors and windows?
The giant, four-foot-square holes in the roof certainly do not make the house watertight. I do not know the answer.
