Washington Boulevard, Revisited June 2026

I’ve looked at Washington Boulevard before west of North Jefferson Avenue, but I took another look a few weeks ago.

Nothing has happened at the Jamison Memorial Church since the fire.

Above is Central Baptist Church, an African American congregation which is over 180 years old, and I’ve always like its current Modernist home.

This is the 3010 Apartments, operated by the Salvation Army.

As is typical of the parallel streets, there are an abundance of one or two story commercial buildings. I’ve looked at this area back in September of 2024.

Here’s some more of that previous look.

And of course there’s Washington Tabernacle Congregation.

Continuing on we enter Grand Center.

The building above is now the Sovereign, a music venue.

The Continental Building and Fox Theater are straight ahead. The old burger joint that later became a Chinese restaurant is apparently just a parking lot now.
