The Fairgrounds neighborhood is isolated by closed streets and Fairgrounds Park on the south, but it is an interesting, eclectic neighborhood, architecturally.
It shows evidence of having been built up over a very long time, and some houses can already be seen in the 1875 Compton and Dry Pictorial St. Louis.
A rare six-family apartment building looks to still be in good condition, though the third floor seems to be blocked off in the middle.
And then there’s this gem, a bowling alley. I wonder if anyone remembers bowling here in the past.
