Butler Brothers, Redeveloped

The massive former Butler Brothers warehouse and showroom has been rehabilitated and rechristened the Victor, an apartment building.

It’s huge, and they wisely opened up some lightwells in the interior.

Perhaps the most striking improvement is the front entrance, which had been heavily adulterated by previous blocking in of doorways. It has now been reopened and looks great.

All of the new windows look great, too.

The history has been preserved, with the original plaque remaining on the corner. I am really glad this one city block-sized building has been “reactivated.”

I’m happy to hear that certain downtown Saint Louis City property is in some very secure hands right now compared to the Wainwright Building. (Or some informally titled Ellis Wainwright II BLDG to give some other historical figure some greater attention beyond Louis Sullivan) I’ve lived in West County my whole life, and it’s nice to see that another more than five stories, old downtown building has been refurbished east of Clayton 🙂

The downtown office buildings of Clayton are way too geographically close to Forest Park with some “generations ago” intended purposes compared to a greater pre Chesterfield “proper” Westport Plaza, a city needs it’s downtown located Commercial Banking Finance and Private Insurance company building to pay off some decent fraction of it’s quarter year counted budgetary debts beyond a few loft apartments

I apologize for how excessively wordy/journalistic my Price family related comment was for your Forsyth Boulevard mansions galore post.
