Near North Riverfront, Early Fall 2023

Update: The building in the background was completely destroyed by fire on February 3, 2024.

Oh, the Near North Riverfront! So potential and so much not going on. Well, a warehouse goes up in flames every so often, so that happens.

There doesn’t seem to be any long term plans.

I do like the new bridge, which is a decade old now.

Rootwad Park, the last commissioned work of Bob Cassilly, actually spills out a little bit around the side of the old Laclede Power Plant, with this really cool bridge.

The North Riverfront Trail goes underneath it.

I remember me and my dad did some recreational cycling around the Near North Riverfront one time as a late teen. Plus I do remember that abandoned Shapleigh Hardware warehouse building. Also it’s a pity that Bob Cassilly’s life was cut short though a couple of sick beatings. 🙁 At least that “formerly invincible” Larry Giles you wrote a Saint Louis Magazine article about died of more natural causes, and I’ll like to wish you an early Merry Christmas as well too 🙂 Some times of the year are not worth typing in accidentally confrontational comments compared to others, but some awareness and trying to understand people can go a long way
