Alerted by friends, I discovered the Palladium, also known as the Plantation Club, has been demolished by the Veterans’ Administration. There had been some hope that the demolition of some non-descript warehouses on the north side of the John Cochran Veterans’ Hospital would suffice, but apparently not. It had been suffering demolition by neglect for a while.

There was little left when I went by on a Saturday, and I imagine that little to nothing will be salvaged. I guess it would have been nice to preserve it and reimagine it as a club for African American performing arts, like it had been in the past, but that was not to be.
