Update: I viewed the west side of Compton Avenue in 2017 and in 2021.
Compton Avenue passes by a wide variety of houses and apartment buildings as it heads south through Dutchtown.
Over the next five days, I will show pictures along this long avenue, starting first with the Tower Grove East portion south of Arsenal.
There is a wide variety of housing, with older houses and slightly newer four-family flats.
These little wood frame houses are very old, sitting far back on the lot, and probably date to the years after the Civil War. Most houses in Tower Grove East are from the first two decades of the Twentieth Century.
Update: The four-family below was converted into a single family house.
