Picking up east of Nebraska Avenue, we see the former Kern’s Market, which is now Upon This ROCK Holiness Church.

Then comes a row of four-family flats, all obviously built at the same time and by the same builder. But as is typical of the early Twentieth Century, and something developers today could learn, that did not stop the former from adding subtle individuality to each building.

And with the exception of the straight off the bottom shelf at Home Depot front doors, I always enjoy watching to see how each building develops a patina over the decades.

The current owners of the two-family flat I grew up in also replaced its front doors with those cheap right off the assembly line doors. I wish people would just replace the weather stripping, etc. Those replacements really cheapen the look of the home (especially when they just leave that factory white primed finish.)
