Maine Avenue, Quincy, Illinois

Maine Avenue east out of downtown Quincy is lined with a stunning host of all the major styles of Nineteenth Century architecture. There’s Italianate and Second Empire hybrids, like in St. Louis, pure Italianate and Second Empire, Romanesque Revival and some wonderful Queen Anne houses, as well. It was rumored to be one of the best streets in America, and it really is.
